The angel with stained wings.

Rima didn't remember where and when she met the angel, where the angel came from, or why it was locked in the basement of her simple two-storey house on the outskirts of Jump City. In fact, Rima didn't remember much at all, and everyday was a blur between reality and waking dreams. Half the time Rima did not know what was real and what were figments of her deranged imagination. She had brief periods where her mind was clear and lucid enough to understand everything that was going on. It was during one of these lucid spells that Rima decided to find out for sure whether or not the angel in her dreams was really in her basement. And if there truly was an angel in her basement, she would figure out how it got there.

The first time Rima had seen this angel, though she didnt remember it, was when she woke up from another particularly bad "memory". She found herself in the dark and damp of the stone basement with no owners to the house above it. Her memory of what seemed to be the past two months were mostly blank with a few blurs at best. She even found herself wearing a skin tight leather jacket and equally tight leather pants she didnt remember acquiring in the slightest. She should have been used to it by now, but waking up wearing new genuine branded leather goth gear with no memory of they got onto you is just as confusing as waking up naked in an alley. In any case, Rima stumbled for a good couple of minutes in the basement looking for the light switch until she bumped a warm and soft body in the darkness. The lights came on promptly after Rima had reeled backwards in shock. What she found was an angel, looking remarkably out of place in the cold basement surrounded by dreary gray stone walls.

"W-what are you?" Rima managed to spit out after a minute or two of gawking. The creature that stood before her looked neither male nor female and radiated beauty. It's stance was casual and calm, with hands tucked into the pockets of snow-white jeans. The white polo shirt the angel wore had two buttons undone at the top and its sleeves rolled up to the elbows. Even the shoes where pure white. The angel's wings, which were the feature that Rima noticed the first, were folded against the angel's back and peeked from twin gashes on the back of the white polo shirt, just above the ridge of the shoulder blades. In response, the angel just shrugged and offered a hand to Rima to help her off the floor. Rima hastily took it. She didnt like that she was in the same room with a mysterious angel, but the angel's immaculate aura comforted Rima. She felt that she could trust the deep chocolate eyes and the sincere, sweet smile. There was no danger here.

This time though, when Rima mustered enough courage to throw open the basement door and flick the light switch, the angel was still there. Only this time, he/she looked different from the shards of memory Rima managed to hold on to. The angel stood in the far corner, spine following the curve between the walls and head drooping to his chest as if asleep. Where Rima remembered immaculately clean white clothing to be, there were thick black straps bound tightly along the angel's arms, legs, and some criss-crossing the angel's torso. The glint of pure white could be seen between the heavy leather straps at every creak and bend in his body. Before, the angel wore the cleanest pair of white loafers Rima had ever seen. Now, the angel wore ankle high leather boots with a ruffle of feathers adorning the various seams. Rima approached the angel cautiously. It wasnt only the appearance of the angel that put Rima on guard. The angel seemed more dangerous some how. It wasnt until Rima could almost touch him when she saw the wings. The top of the angel's wings, which Rima could still see just above his shoulders were as white and pure as they were before, just like dove feathers. On the floor however, were hundreds of smaller white feathers and when the angel moved, more feathers fell to the ground. The angel finally pushed himself off the wall and flexed his wings. Halfway down each wing, the white feathers gave way to dark and leathery bat-like wings. How could she have not noticed them before? The angel had hid his wings by pressing them as much as possible into the corner and covering it with his body.

The angel looked up and saw Rima properly when she was unable to suppress a sharp gasp. The angel looked so pale now, compared to his healthy complexion when she met him before. Even the hand that the angel held outstretched was bony and sallow compared to before when his skeleton was nicely fleshed out. "What happened to you?" Rima asked, her voice barely a whisper from the cold acid of fear and nervousness in the pit of her stomach. The angel only smiled. It was a sad, almost apologetic smile. He reached out and gently ran the back of his hand on Rima's cheek, gazing into her eyes, into her soul.

"Nothing happened to me, sweet child." the angel said with a voice as sweet and clear as crystal tinkling. "This is who I really am." Rima met this revelation with total and absolute confusion. The angel saw this and laughed lightly. "You do not remember?" he pulled her closer to him. His wings flapped slightly behind him, sending a shower of soft down feathers cascading around Rima's shoulders. The angel's features, which seemed to shift between male and female and seemed to hide a dangerous aspect, entranced Rima with their beauty. "What are you?" Rima somehow managed to whisper. "Are you really an angel?" "Am I a tainted angel, or a devil with the guise of holiness?" the angel asked back, gently stroking Rima's hair. She found herself leaning into him, inexplicably drawn to the mysterious figure. "I am a mystery, am I not? As you do not remember, my dear, we have met many times before. You have uncovered the truth about me, and in helping me, you have earned my loyalty. In whatever form I may take, though you will not know me, I will be with you." the angel said, and Rima felt it was the truth. "Sadly, I must go. Do not despair, love. I will be with you." the angel with devil's wings leaned towards Rima and gave her a short sweet kiss. Then he faded into the darkness before the first tear drops fell to the cold, damp, stone floor.
